Voor het vierde achtereenvolgende jaar presenteert So What’s Next? op zondagmiddag een uitgebreid showcase programma met het beste opkomende talent uit de Verenigde Staten en Europa op negen podia in de binnenstad van Eindhoven. Voor de eerste keer ook nog eens gratis te bezoeken. Dit is ‘Jazz & Beyond’ met een hoofdletter! Laat je in Altstadt vervoeren door drie fantastische acts. Van hip-hop, groovy trip-hop en pop tot jazz, electronics en pianoballades.

Sirintip

Thais/Zweedse vocalist/componist Sirintip brengt een mix van stijlen en sounds tot uitdrukking in haar diverse, originele repertoire. Donkere, groovy trip-hop, pop, jazz, electronics en pianoballades omarmen haar diepzinnige 3-talige lyrics. Ze werd opgemerkt door Michael League van Snarky Puppy: ‘Sirintip creëert iets bijzonders uit alle invloeden die ze onderging, haar Scandinavische, etherische elegantie en Thaise percussieve scherpte.’ Een muzikaal avontuur.

Thai/Swedish vocalist/composer Sirintip expresses a mix of styles and sounds in her diverse and original repertoire. Dark groovy trip-hop, pop, jazz, electronics and piano ballads embrace her profound tri-lingual lyrics. She was noticed by Michael League of Snarky Puppy: ‘Sirintip creates something special from all the influences she experienced. The ethereal elegance of her Scandinavian upbringing and the percussive sharpness of her Thai roots.’ A musical adventure.

Kassa Overall

Veelgeprezen drummer, producer, songwriter en rapper Kassa Overall produceert een origineel klinkend, diepgaande mengeling van hedendaagse hip-hop en jazz” (New York Times). Hij speelt samen met Paul Wilson (Lauren Hill, Arto Lindsay) op synthesizer, electronica en drums. Kassa is dé opkomende muzikant in het avant-garde, jazz, hiphop en popcircuit in NYC.

“Acclaimed drummer, producer, songwriter and rapper Kassa Overall produces a genuine sounding, full scope amalgam of contemporary hip-hop and jazz’ (New York Times). For this concert he will perform with Paul Wilson (Lauryn Hill, Arto Lindsay) on synthesizer, electronics and drums, known as a strongly emerging musician in the avant-garde, jazz and pop circles in NYC.

Juanfer Marrero Group

Zuid-Spaanse componist en gitarist Juanfer Marrero hing zijn flamenco/folkroots aan de wilgen en dook in 70’s muziek, geïnspireerd door de platencollectie van zijn vader. Gefascineerd door psychedelia en soundscapes doorbreekt hij de grenzen van hoe een gitaar moet klinken en speelt hij met het concept van structuur en tempo van mainstream muziek.

Southern Spanish composer en guitarist Juanfer Marrero left his flamenco/folk roots out to dry and dove right into 70’s music inspired by his father’s record collection. Fascinated with phsychedelia and soundscapes he is breaking the limits of what a guitar should sound like and plays around with the concept of structure and tempo of mainstream music.

So What's Next?

Jazz is the starting point but certainly not the only frame of reference at So What’s Next? On Friday 1, Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 November 2019, the 7th edition takes place in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. A three day music evolution with concerts of ground breaking jazz & beyond artists from the new millennium.
